Managing-Director of the Persian Gulf Star refinery in southern Iran has said that the refinery is responsible for 40% of the country’s gasoline needs and also has a significant share in producing other products such as liquefied gas and kerosene.

Alireza Jafarpour Boroujeni said that the Persian Gulf Star refinery is Iran’s largest refinery and the world’s largest gasoline producer.

Iran used to be producing some 33 million liters a day of gasoline and other gasoline products two years ago while the figure has not grown to 43 million litters a day, he said.

He added that the country’s gasoline output has grown by around 15 million liters either directly or indirectly over the past two years which will significantly help remove imbalances in gasoline production.

Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari said early in January that the Iranian average daily gasoline consumption had reached about 113 million liters.
