Exports of some Iranian agricultural items, including, oranges, lettuce and bell pepper, have registered a 500% annual growth in 2023, according to a Russian official.
Sergei Dankvert, the head of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia, made the remarks in a meeting in Moscow on Saturday with Iran’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alireza Peimanpak.
The Iranian products have replaced items which used to be imported from Europe, the official said, highlighting the high quality of Iranian products.
The Iranian deputy minister, for his part, said that signing a free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states was a major step in promotion of trade especially in the trade of agricultural products.
Peimanpak called on the Russian side to remove the obstacles on the exports of Iranian commodities to the country.
