The 6th Export Potential Exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran – known as Iran Expo – opened in Tehran’s Permanent International Fairground on Saturday.
The opening ceremony was participated by President Ebrahim Raisi, Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Abbas Aliabadi, President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh and senior officials and representatives from other countries.
Addressing the ceremony, President Raisi said that this exhibition proved that sanctions and other evil plots for isolating Iran have gone nowhere and will go nowhere in the future.
Minister of industry also addressed the ceremony, hailing the presence of participants from 100 countries which he said would “improve our knowledge of one another and facilitate trade”.
He put the volume of Iran’s foreign trade at more than $153 billion, adding that the country’s non-oil exports account for an around $50 billion of the sum.
Aliabadi stressed that expansion of ties with neighboring, African, Islamic and other friendly countries is a main priority for Tehran.
Iran Expo, which is the country’s biggest trade event, will run until Wednesday (May 1).
The five-day event is host to over 2,000 investors and businesspeople from 120 countries. Some 800 domestic companies are also present in the exhibition.
