“Georgia should be seen as a hub for re-exporting Iranian products”

Fatemeh Moghimi, the chairperson of Iran-Georgia Joint Chamber of Commerce, says that Georgia is capable of turning into a hub for re-exporting Iranian products and must not be seen as a final destination.

She made the remarks addressing an Iran-Georgia Business Forum in Tehran on Saturday.

The business forum took place in the headquarters of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) as a 23-member delegation of Georgian businesspeople active in the area of construction industry are in the Iranian capital to attend Iran Expo 2024.

Moghimi said that the Georgian delegation, who are comprised of the country’s businesspeople active in the area of construction industry, are scheduled to pay a visit to a number of Iranian industrial units on Sunday.

She added that Iran also plans to dispatch a delegation to Georgia within the next month to help increase the level of bilateral interactions.  

In the meantime, Chairman of the International Investors Association of Georgia, Osman Chalishkan, highlighted the significance of Iran Expo in upgrading the level of bilateral trade between Iran and Georgia as he said it facilitates the exchange of trade data between the two countries.  

He stressed that the Georgian delegation seeks to meet the country’s needs for construction items by the help of Iranian companies.

The forum was followed by B2B meetings between the businesspeople from the two sides.
