President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh says despite the problems caused by sanctions, Iran and France can rely on their private sectors to give a boost to cooperation on medical and food areas.

Hassanzadeh made the remarks in a meeting in Paris with the managing general of the Movement of the Enterprises of France (Medef).

He also highlighted Iran’s petrochemical, chemical and mining capacities, noting that with an 85-million population, the country has been able to meet the needs of neighboring and regional countries.

The Iran Chamber of Commerce president regretted that some French state-run or private sector bodies have failed to cooperate with Iranian economic actors on opening bank accounts and facilitating investment.

The French side, for his part, said that the Iranian market has a great potential while the dependence of the European financial system on dollar has hindered bilateral relations between Iran and France over the past few years.

Referring to the changes caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the wars in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world, he said that the French companies are cautious not only in dealing with Iran but also in dealing with the entire world.
