Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) is offering 40,000 megawatts (MW) of wind power plant projects to investors, according to a SATBA official.

Mostafa Rabiei announced that the organization, in collaboration with the Iran Meteorological Organization, identified windy locations across the country from 2007 to 2011, using 120 wind measurement towers. The identified capacity for wind energy is 40,000 MW, which presents significant opportunities for investment.

Rabiei emphasized that with sufficient investment, Iran could become a major player in renewable energy within the region, especially as global interest in sustainable energy sources grows.

Currently, renewables account for nearly seven percent of Iran's total electricity generation capacity. Solar power contributes 44 percent of the country's renewable energy, while wind energy accounts for 40 percent. Iran aims to add 10,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by August 2025.

The geographic location of Iran's renewable power plants.

Iran's northern region, particularly in Manjil, is already home to several operational wind power plants, which are among the country's oldest and most established.
