ICCIMA president accompanying President Pezeshkian in Iraq visit

President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh, left Tehran for Baghdad on Wednesday, accompanying President Masoud Pezeshkian in his visit to Iraq.

The visit to neighboring Iraq is taking place as the first foreign visit of President Pesishkian as Iran’s president which reflects the deep friendly ties between the two nations.

During his presidential campaign, Pezeshkian repeatedly stressed that enhancement of ties with neighbors would be a main priority of his administration.

Iraq is the second largest importer of Iranian goods with the annual trade between the two countries standing at $10 billion.

According to a report issued by Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) in October 2023, as much as 30% of Iran’s agricultural products and 44% of the country’s industrial products were bound for Iraq.

Apart from visiting Baghdad, the Iranian president is also scheduled to visit four other Iraqi cities of Basra, Erbil, Najaf, and Karbala during his three-day visit to the country.
