Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Mohammad Atabak is scheduled to participate in the 3rd Eurasian Economic Forum due to be held in Yerevan, Armenia, from September 30 to October 1, 2024, Iran’s Trade Promotion Organization (TPO) announced on Wednesday.

The TPO head Mohammad-Ali Dehghan Dehnavi will accompany the minister in his Yerevan visit.

The panel discussion of the EAEU-Iran Business Dialogue will be the main thematic session to exchange views on strengthening and further development of trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and Iran, including industrial cooperation, cooperation in the agricultural sector, trade and investment promotion, as well as the development of financial, transport and logistics infrastructure.

In practical terms, the program of the EAEU-Iran Business Dialogue is complemented by four sector-specific round tables for companies participating in the Forum in these fields. Besides, the possibility of establishing partnerships through face-to-face and online B2B meetings on the sidelines of the Forum is worked out for the entrepreneurs of the EAEU countries and Iran.

Akbar Godari, the director of TPO Office for Central Asia, Caucasus and Russia, said that some 100 Iranian private sector companies, as well as 200 companies from EAEU members – Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan – will be present at the event.

He added that a free trade agreement signed between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union is expected to be approved by the parliaments of all the member countries within the next few months.

The FTA agreement was ratified by the Russian State Duma early in June.

A long-awaited FTA was signed between Iran and the five-member bloc in St. Petersburg, Russia, on December 25, 2023.
