The value of Iran’s non-oil trade hits $30.6 billion in the second quarter of the calendar year (June 22 – September 21), marking a 9.4% year-on-year increase, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Ruhollah Latifi, the spokesman of the international relations and trade promotion department of Iran’s House of Industry, Mine and Trade, said that Iran’s exports to other countries accounted for some $12.3 billion of the mentioned sum, with the country’s imports being responsible for the rest $18.6 billion.
The data shows a $6 billion deficit in Iran’s non-oil trade in the period under review, Latifi said.
He added that Iran’s exports of non-oil commodities have increased by 6.2% compared to those of last year’s corresponding period and the country’s imports have also witnessed an 11.6% year-on-year hike.
Latifi also noted that Iran’s non-oil trade in the second quarter of the calendar year was up 10% compared to that of the preceding quarter.
