Iran’s Oil Ministry has rejected comments attributed to the minister about plans to rise gasoline price.
In an announcement on Monday, the ministry said that the issue of setting energy prices, including gasoline, falls under the country’s high-level policy-making, and the Oil Ministry would only serve as an executor of the decisions issued by the government and the parliament.
Iran offers major energy subsidies to its citizens which has prompted fuel smuggling into neighboring countries.
Last year, the Iranian Oil Ministry said the country pays energy subsidies to its citizens nearly twice its oil revenues.
