Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian instructed officials on Saturday to swiftly eliminate obstacles hindering private sector investment in the electricity industry, aiming to address power shortages ahead of the peak demand season.

He made the remarks at a meeting titled "Exploring Solutions to Resolve Power Imbalance and Promote Renewable Energy Plants," in Tehran on Saturday morning, which was also participated by the head of the president's office, the energy minister, the minister of finance and economic affairs, the head of the Planning and Budget Organization, and private-sector operators active in the area of power plant development.

Emphasizing the urgent need to remove barriers for investors in clean energy and to adopt modern technologies for power production, Pezeshkian stated that given the pressing nature of this issue, relevant ministers and officials must intensify coordination to ensure that all required permits are rapidly issued to facilitate private sector involvement in power generation.

He urged private firms to offer their proposals for energy projects, especially those involving clean energy, adding that a follow-up meeting would be held in the coming days to review and assess the submitted proposals.
