President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Samad Hassanzadeh has called on the government to prioritize de-escalation of tensions with the world and strengthen national cooperation, particularly with the private sector, in the face of ongoing economic challenges.
Addressing the ICCIMA Board of Representatives on Sunday, Hassanzadeh urged the Iranian government to focus on reducing economic pressures that could even intensify further as Donald Trump is elected for a second term as US president. He emphasized the need for effective international engagement and regional cooperation to be able to more efficiently address the needs of the country.
The government is expected to pursue greater commitment to dialogue and partnerships, particularly with the private sector, to manage the country’s affairs more effectively, Hassanzadeh said.
He also voiced concerns over the Iranian next year budget bill, stating that it lacks specific incentives or support measures for enhancing the country’s industrial production capacity. Hassanzadeh noted that increased taxation, coupled with the issuance of large volumes of government bonds, could impose additional strain on Iran’s productive economy.
He believed that the election of new US president could lead to uncertainty for the Iranian economy, stressing that it is crucial that the government strengthen its support for the productive sectors and engage more proactively with the world.
