Iran’s Vice President for Women and Family Affairs has highlighted the limited participation of women in technology businesses, stating that while 61% of university entrants are women, their share in tech entrepreneurship is just 11%.
Zahra Behrouz Azar emphasized the need for leveraging the full potential of the country's population for development and progress.
National development requires two wings and one of these wings is the participation of women, she said.
Behrouz Azar regretted that although 61% of university entrants are women, their presence in business, particularly in technology sectors, remains disproportionately low at only 11%.
She announced plans to increase women’s share in tech entrepreneurship to 30% by the end of the administration's term.
One of the main challenges is securing funding for women entrepreneurs, she said, expressing hope for devising effective solutions to overcome this obstacle.
