Iran’s national pavilion at Russia’s PRODEXPO 2025 food exhibition featured 10 Iranian companies, marking a step forward in the country’s push to expand its footprint in the Russian market.
Iran’s presence in the event was financially backed by the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) and organized in cooperation with the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce.
According to a report from the Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce, this year’s exhibition comes at a pivotal moment as both countries prepare to launch free trade for the first time in their economic history by the end of the year. The event also saw strong international participation as uncertainty over the Russian market, following the war in Ukraine, appears to ease.
The report noted fast-developing banking ties between Iran and Russia. Following the integration of the two nations' interbank messaging systems and the acceptance of Iran’s Shetab banking cards at Russian ATMs, Russia’s second-largest bank is now preparing to open a branch in Iran.
