Russia’s tourism sector saw significant growth in 2024, with both outbound and inbound travel figures on the rise. Russian travelers made 30 million international trips, a 20% increase from the previous year. Turkey remained the top destination, attracting 6.7 million Russians, followed by the UAE, China, Egypt, and Georgia.
Inbound tourism also showed promising recovery, with international arrivals up 11%. China led the way, sending 848,000 leisure visitors, making up half of all such arrivals. Experts attribute this rise to improved diplomatic and financial ties, including enhanced banking connections between Moscow and Beijing.
Russia’s rich cultural and natural attractions—Moscow’s Red Square, the Hermitage Museum, and Lake Baikal—continue to draw global visitors. With ongoing efforts to strengthen tourism infrastructure, both outbound and inbound travel are expected to grow further in the coming years.
