Iran and Russia have entered a new phase in their economic relations, reflecting the determination of both governments and private sectors to expand cooperation, the president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture said during a meeting in Moscow on Monday.

Speaking after talks with Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Samad Hassanzadeh said trade exchanges between the two nations are progressing but still fall short of their potential.

“Although the volume of bilateral trade indicates a forward-moving trend, Iran's share remains limited when compared to Russia's $150 billion import market,” Hassanzadeh said.

He also praised the Russian Chamber of Commerce for its efforts to increase business delegations and foster economic dialogue between the two countries.

Iran and Russia have strengthened their economic and political ties in recent years, particularly in response to Western sanctions.
