President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised the Iranian private sector, calling chambers of commerce and economic actors “a key pillar of national development,” and pledged government support for industry and trade.

“You, the industrialists and merchants, keep the country’s economy running,” Pezeshkian told members of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce during a meeting in Tehran on Sunday.

The president emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting economic players, saying the first step is to “avoid creating obstacles” and to focus on “facilitating your operations.”

He stressed the need for cooperation between producers, industrialists, and trade unions to better manage markets and the economy. “If this interaction is achieved, no power can halt the country’s progress,” he added.

Pezeshkian also highlighted his administration’s diplomatic outreach since taking office, saying it has prioritized expanding economic ties with regional and Islamic countries. “We have maintained consistent contact with neighboring leaders to ease trade and remove barriers,” he said.

The president concluded by commending the private sector’s resilience and service during the recent 12-day Israeli-imposed war on the country, expressing gratitude for their “steadfastness” during this “critical period”.
