Iran’s non-oil trade reached more than $34.17 billion in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year, despite a drop in trade value compared to the same period last year, the country’s customs office said on Wednesday.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) reported that between March 21 and July 22, non-oil trade amounted to 61.20 million tonnes of goods, up 0.48% in weight year-on-year. However, the total trade value dropped by 10% to $34.175 billion.

Iran exported 48.811 million tonnes of non-oil goods worth $16.549 billion during the period, marking a 1.46% increase in export volume but a 5.51% decrease in value. Imports stood at 12.209 million tonnes valued at $17.627 billion, down 3.23% in volume and 14.20% in value from the previous year.

Key exports included natural gas, liquefied propane, methanol, liquefied butane, and oil bitumen, IRICA said. Major imports were unrefined gold, animal feed corn, rice, sunflower seed oil, and soybeans.

China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Oman were among Iran’s top export destinations. The UAE, China, Turkey, India, Germany, Russia, and the Netherlands were Iran’s primary sources of imports.
