The head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture has welcomed the resumption of direct talks between Tehran and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) after six years, calling it a “ray of hope” for the country’s private sector.

Samad Hassanzadeh told a Sunday meeting of the chamber’s board of representatives that following the approval of the Palermo Convention by Iran’s Expediency Council, acceptance of the complementary CFT convention could further demonstrate Iran’s commitment to financial transparency. He said completing the FATF-related conventions would ease engagement with the global watchdog and pave the way for wider economic ties.

Hassanzadeh added that the chamber has consistently supported international dialogue and de-escalation of tensions while safeguarding national interests, and reiterated that economic diplomacy led by the private sector remains one of the best ways for Iran to overcome its current challenges.
