Chambers of commerce of Iran and Armenia have agreed to establish a mechanism for direct communication aimed at improving the exchange of commercial and economic data.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Yerevan on Monday between Mohammad Reza Bahraman, vice president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, and Karen Ivanov, deputy head of the Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Bahraman said Armenia could be a close partner for Iran, describing the two countries as “good neighbors who know each other well.” He added: “We see a bright future and that is why we are investing. Iran has diverse products that can be exported to Armenia.”
Ivanov said chambers in both countries had limited knowledge of one another, calling this a “serious shortcoming.” He proposed appointing representatives on both sides to maintain regular contact and help elevate cooperation.
Both sides agreed to move forward with the new mechanism and named their representatives.
