Central Bank Governor Mohammadreza Farzin says that the bank views the private sector as the main driver of Iran’s economy and plans to support it through targeted credit and export incentives.

Speaking at a consultative meeting with members of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture on Monday, Farzin said the Central Bank aims to empower private enterprises, particularly in production and exports, as part of its broader strategy to stimulate growth.

“Our fundamental approach at the Central Bank is that the economy should be steered by the private sector,” Farzin said. “In the current circumstances, we have decided to help the private sector so that production can grow through targeted financing and exports can expand.”

He added that monetary and foreign exchange policies would be adjusted to address recent disruptions in economic growth caused by political and security developments. “Our goal is to restore the growth trajectory by providing financial support to productive enterprises,” Farzin said.

The Central Bank chief noted that his institution is ready to cooperate with the Chamber of Commerce to remove obstacles facing domestic production. He said several provincial visits and meetings with chamber members have already taken place and pledged continued efforts to resolve outstanding issues.
