President Masoud Pezeshkian told senior private-sector representatives on Tuesday that his government is determined to ease obstacles facing producers and investors, as business leaders urged reforms to help stabilize the economy.

Speaking at a National Export Day meeting with members of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Pezeshkian said the government aims to correct economic and production policies “with the cooperation of experts and economic actors.”

Pezeshkian said expanding trade with neighboring states – including Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey and Iraq – is central to Iran’s strategy for overcoming economic challenges. He described Iran’s borders as a “golden opportunity” and called for deeper regional engagement to boost non-oil exports.

The president also reiterated that Iran must reduce the size of the state to curb inflation and improve efficiency, saying the government should focus on regulation and facilitation rather than direct economic control.

“We are determined to create economic stability and support producers,” he said, urging private companies to assist the government in addressing livelihood and cost-of-living pressures.

Earlier in the meeting, chamber president Samad Hassanzadeh said the private sector wants gradual reform of Iran’s preferential exchange rate system, liberalization of energy prices toward international levels, and easier conditions for Iranian investors abroad to bring capital home.
