The president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture says the chamber welcomes expanded cooperation with its Bruneian counterpart to boost private-sector trade between the two countries.
In an online meeting on Saturday with Haji Abdul Saman Haji Ahmad, president of the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam, Samad Hassanzadeh said Iran seeks to work with Brunei in fields including joint economic and educational projects, tourism, artificial intelligence, technology transfer in agriculture and industry, engineering services, construction, food industries, and large-scale oil and petrochemical ventures.
Hassanzadeh emphasized the importance of establishing a direct flight between Iran and Brunei, saying it would promote tourism and enhance business ties between entrepreneurs from both nations.
Expressing regret over the low level of trade exchanges between the two countries, he said joint investments in Iran and Brunei could significantly expand commercial cooperation.
The Brunei chamber president, for his part, noted that a memorandum of understanding signed between the two chambers last year had laid the foundation for future collaboration. He said Brunei was ready to host an Iranian business delegation to hold bilateral meetings and plan for stronger economic, trade, and investment relations.
He also raised the possibility of launching a direct flight between Tehran and Bandar Seri Begawan, saying such a link could support tourism growth but would require government-level decisions. He, however, added that “the chambers of commerce can begin the technical talks and feasibility studies to pave the way for implementation.”
Ahmad said the upcoming Iran Expo 2026, scheduled for April next year, would offer a valuable opportunity to deepen cooperation. “Given our previous interactions and productive ties, I plan to attend the event with a larger delegation of Bruneian business leaders and entrepreneurs,” he said.
