Iran’s top business representative joined global delegations at the opening of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025) on Monday, highlighting Tehran’s push to further expand economic engagement with Cuba.

The 41st edition of FIHAV opened in the Cuban capital with a formal ceremony attended by the country’s president, senior economic ministers, ambassadors and business leaders from multiple nations.

Iran’s delegation was led by Samad Hassanzadeh, president of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture. He was joined by chamber vice president Qadir Qiafeh, Iran’s ambassador to Havana Zabihollah Naderi, and Hamed Asgari, the chamber’s deputy for international affairs.

Iran has set up a national pavilion at the fair, where companies from the country’s private sector are exhibiting. Participants include food producers Tak Makaron and Zar Makaron, petrochemical firm Zagros Petrochemical, industrial pump manufacturer Pompiran and several established Iranian footwear producers.

Bilateral trade between Iran and Cuba reached an estimated $218 million in 2023. While the figure represents a steady rise in recent years, officials say current volumes remain far below the two countries’ potential and opportunities for growth.
