Iran’s top business representative said Tehran is ready to expand cooperation with Cuba across multiple sectors, citing engineering services, petrochemicals and agriculture as areas where the two countries could rapidly build partnerships.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), Samad Hassanzadeh, president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, told Al Mayadeen that Iran’s technical and engineering capabilities, along with its oil and petrochemical industries, position it to develop strong economic exchanges with Cuba.

He said many Iranian products could gain a foothold in the Cuban market given the country’s needs. The use of modern technologies in Iranian manufacturing, he added, creates opportunities for cooperation in reviving Cuban industrial sectors that have been dormant for years.

Hassanzadeh identified sugarcane cultivation as a promising area for joint agricultural projects, saying Iran’s private sector is prepared to help address supply-chain challenges in Cuba based on its experience in farming and food production.

He also pointed to Cuba’s growing capacities in biomedical research and vaccine production as a platform for future joint initiatives. With Iran’s own advances in health technologies, he said “health diplomacy” could become an important driver of expanded bilateral ties.
