Iran Water Industry Federation (IWIF), a private sector body, says it is in contact with international organizations to make sure that Iranian water infrastructures will not be damaged during the US-Israeli attacks against the country.

IWIF Secretary General Alireza Shariat said the federation has written letters to 16 international organizations, including the United Nations, humanitarian agencies and specialized global organizations and policy-making agencies, warning against a possible spread of war to the water sector which is directly connected to public health and hygiene.

He said the letters referred to the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols which protect the lives and properties of civilian people and prohibit their starvation and any attack against water reservoirs during armed conflicts.
