Figures by the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI) show that the country’s unemployment rate dropped slightly in the year to March 20.
The International Monetary Fund expects the unemployment rate in Iran to exceed 10% in 2022 and the following year.
According to the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI), the unemployment rate for people aged 15 and above fell to 8.9 percent this fall (September 23-December 21, 2021), recording the lowest rate in 25 years.
Iran’s unemployment rate, the proportion of jobless population of ages 15 and above, stood at 9.6% in the second quarter of the current Iranian year (June 22-Sept. 22), indicating a 0.1% decline compared with the same period of last year.
Underemployment, the condition in which people in a labor force are employed for less than 44 hours of service per week, stood at 9.3% in the second quarter of the current fiscal year (June 21-Sept. 21).
