Iran private sector parliament believes the Persian Gulf country is a safe and secure place for the Iranian businesses to be able to export their goods to Africa, Arab and European countries.
The plan is part of Iran’s wider approach to promote ties with regional countries. Western neighbours are now the country’s economic priority following the US sanctions.
The moves comes after a decision by the ports legal department. The process was interrupted when the US unilaterally walked out the 2015 international treaty on Iran nuclear programme and reimposed economic sanctions on the country.
Restrictions on Iranian vessels travelling to Oman have been removed after Tehran sought proper permission.
The two countries on either side of the strategic Strait of Hormuz enjoy long-standign political, military and commercial cooperation. Tehran and Muscat have been recently pushing for more bilateral trade.
