2.5 billion barrels added to Iran’s oil, gas reserves in one year

Deputy Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Khojastehmehr has said that with the new exploration projects, as much as 2.5 billion barrels has been added to Iran’s oil and gas reserves in the calendar year that will come to an end within the next few days.

Deputy Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Khojastehmehr has said that with the new exploration projects, as much as 2.5 billion barrels has been added to Iran’s oil and gas reserves in the calendar year that will come to an end within the next few days.

He said that Iran still continues with its explorations at the South Pars Field in southern country, adding that a new well has been drilled and studies are underway for the drilling of a second well.

Khojastehmehr, also the managing general of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), referred to a disputed oil field between Iran and Kuwait and said that Iran’s sovereignty over part of Arash Field is undeniable.   

He added that the company plans to drills 35 new wells in the South Pars Field and have made contracts with four domestic companies in this regard.
