Iran, Hong Kong to revive banking relations

The chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries and the President of Iran Chamber met on the sidelines of Hong Kong Business forum here in Tehran.

Hong Kong Business Forum was held in the location of Iran chamber of commerce on 30 April 2016. On the sidelines of this forum, the chairman of Federation of Hong Kong Industries visited the head of Iran chamber.
According to the report of ICCIMA's public relations, in this meeting Mohsen Jalalpour the head of Iran chamber emphasized on the revival of Iran-Hong Kong banking relations and the opening of letters of credit (LC).


Referring to the political and historical relations between the two countries Jalalpour said: Iran-Hong Kong economic and trade relations have to be strengthened by the two countries' private sector, chambers of commerce and joint chambers.


He added: there is much potential and capacities in Iran for expanding economic cooperation such as: closed factories, semi-finished projects, populated market, low cost of transportation and manufacturing hub area.


The head of Iran chamber stated: In addition to Hong Kong's strategic location, small and medium enterprise activities, quality production and tourism; it is a regional financial center.


Jalalpour announced that there are many problems in development of trade transactions such as: the lack of arbitration center to resolve commercial disputes, air carriers and commuter problems businessmen to attend the international fairs.


In this meeting, Daniel M Cheng the chairman of federation of Hong Kong industries also emphasized on the expanding of economic cooperation between two countries.


Cheng said: there is open and advanced banking system in Hong Kong our bank is required to comply with international rules that hope in the near future relations between the two countries.


He noted: Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC) is responsible for coordinating and organizing the dispatching of businessmen to participate in international exhibition. We hope with establishing direct flights to facility the dispatching of two countries' traders.


It is said that the activities of members' Hong Kong Trade delegation are in the fields of computer accessories, locks, construction and interior decoration, health, glass and mirrors, international transport services, environmental engineering, jewelry packaging, sauces and a variety of spices and condiments, food and beverage services and the printing and publication of books and catalogs, electronic equipment and cars recreational, shoes, disposal and treatment of waste, e-commerce.
