The Iranian automaker says the initiative is part of its plans to reduce the effect of unilateral US sanctions that have disrupted production lines. It will also help boost production, the group says.

SAIPA Group, Iran’s second largest carmaker, has launched an initiative to produce domestically all the necessary automobile parts in a bid to facilitate the national production growth and offset the sanctions, semi-official ISNA says.

SAIPA Group President Javad Solaimani is calling on all Iranian knowledge-based companies to propose ideas on how to design and develop car parts in a bid to stop buying foreign parts.

“There have been several reasons for SAIPA to start drive the knowledge-based companies and the industries towards manufacturing automobile parts in Iran,” Solaimani said, highlighting sanctions and lack of cooperation with foreign firms that have caused delays in car deliveries to the clients.

He said the automaker will support every group that has innovative ideas to produce the parts domestically.

SAIPA has been failing to deliver on time the sold cars to its clients, claiming the sanctions and no parts imports have disrupted the assembly and production lines.
