Ambassador of the Republic of Slovakia to Iran says some 30 companies that are interested in keeping trade with Iran will visit the country in coming weeks .

Slovak ambassador to Iran says a business delegation from the eastern European country will visit Iran from 23 to 26 June in a bid to explore potentials for trade exchanges between the countries.

The business delegation is expected to include 30 Slovak companies that are interested in maintaining trade with Iran despite the unilateral US sanctions.

The delegation is expected to visit Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) and hold Business to Business (B2B) with Iranian companies, according to Slovak Ambassador Ľubomír Golian.  

The Slovak companies are also expected to take part in the fourth Joint Economic Commission between Iran and Slovakia.

The group of companies will also visit the southern Iranian city of Shiraz and explore business opportunities there.  

Mohammad Reza Karbasi, Deputy for International Affairs at the ICCIMA said the private sector’s entity is prepared to hold a joint business forum. He reiterated that a Joint Economic Committee between the two countries has also been established.

Jabbar Kianipur, President of Yasuj Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (YCCIMA), that has been assinged to perform as a Point of Contact for trade with Slovakia, invited the eastern European business delegation to visit the western Iranian city, the provincial capital of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad.

Iran exported 6,638,410 dollars to Slovakia, showing a reduction of 41.6% in value and 56.1% in weight during the last Iranian year 1397 (to 20 March 2019) in comparison to a year before that, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

At the same, Iranian imports from the European country registered a 1.6% downturn in value compared with a year before that.
