Iran says it’s ready to facilitate investment and economic activities by Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states in the country.
“Iran’s unique and strategic geographical location places it on the juncture of East-West, South-West trade corridors,” said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, addressing the 19th summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.
“Iran has vast mineral and energy resources, it enjoys durable security and educated human resources,” he added, saying that such features provides the SCO member states with numerous business opportunities that when utilised can help an economic leap in these countries.
The two-day meeting was held on 13-14 June in Bishkek. Iran is an observer and not a full member in the regional organisation.
“Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to facilitate economic activities of all citizens, companies and the governments of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation,” stressed the Iranian president.
Kazakhstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are the founding members of the regional organisation.
India, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan joined the mechanism later.
