Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) kept rising on Saturday to highs never seen before as the main index of shares moved beyond 1,000,000 points.
The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, closed regular trading hours with a 4.4% rise at 1,020,897 points. The rally was mainly led by gains in industrial, petrochemical and mineral stocks such as Mobarakeh Steel Co., Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industrial Co. and National Iranian Copper Industries Co.
Some 6.59 billion shares changed hands in aournd 1.1 million times of exchange in the TSE’s main hall. The total value of the shares traded reached more than 101 trillion rials (nearly $644 million).
The index had seen several daily jumps over the past weeks after the Iraninan government announced plans to sell about $2 billion worth of state assets to raise money for the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The overall value in the market has reached more than 38,302 trillion rials (nearly $244 billion), according to figures on the TSE’s website.
