Shalamcheh crossing at the border between Iran and Iraq has been reopened for trade after a 24-hour closure.
Seyyed Ali Mousavi, deputy head of Arvand Free Zone Organization, announced the opening and put the daily number of trucks carrying export goods at Shalamcheh border crossing at between 200 and 250.
Over the past month, 150,000 tons of clinker (cement raw materials) were transported to Shalamcheh crossing, total of which was exported to neighboring Iraq, he said.
Construction materials, clinker, summer crops, electric turbine of thermal power plants, foodstuff, chemicals and minerals were the main products exported from Iran to Iraq via Shalamcheh crossing.

Transfer of passengers at the crossing has long been banned due to the spread of the coronavirus.
Shalamcheh border is located 15 km from Khorramshahr and 25 km from Basra, Iraq.
Arvand Free Zone with an area of 37,400 hectares in the northwest of the Persian Gulf includes the cities of Abadan, Khorramshahr, and Minoshahr (Mino Island), which is located at the confluence of the Arvand and Karun rivers.
