Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that given the Vienna negotiations, it is necessary to rebuild facilities to revive economic ties with Italy.
After meeting with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio, Zarif said that they had good talks about bilateral relations.
He termed Italy as Iran's “longtime economic partner”, adding that Italy had an active presence in Iran and that Italian companies had a wide interest in cooperating with Iran so that they had set about $30 billion in contracts and $5 million in credit.
“Now those opportunities needed to be reconstructed… and the ground be prepared for Italy, as an old partner of Iran, to return to the country’s economic scene," Iran’s foreign minister said.
He further expressed optimism that a new era of bilateral economic cooperation will begin between the two countries following the conclusion of the COVID-19 crisis.
