President Raeisi defends his economic team

In a parliament session on Saturday to examine the qualifications of President Rasisi’s picks for different ministries, the president defended his economic team.

Raeisi who had appeared before the Parliament said that he has assigned First Vice-President Mohammad Mokhber to make the necessary coordination between the economic team of the government.

The president said that he had been seeking for a minister of economy capable of making a fair tax system, reforming the business environment, managing the government assets and organizing the general treasury.

Rasisi noted that Ehsan Khandouzi, the proposed one for the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, is the right person for assuming the post.

To defend his pick for the Minister of Road and Urban Development, the president said that Rostam Qassemi has done significant services in Khatam al-Anbia base, which is one of the government’s main contractors in the area of road and urban development.

“Our important issue in this ministry is to build one million houses every year and to build 4 million houses in 4 years, which Mr. Qassemi has plans to do,” Raeisi said.  

The president also referred to the successful economic record of the proposed minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, at Astan Quds Razavi Foundation, expressing hope that Reza Fatemi Amin could take major steps in this ministry.  

He said that his pick for petroleum minister is one of the famous and well-known figures in the ministry.

Raeisi noted that, with the related knowledge and good experience, Javad Owji can take significant measures to increase Iran’s oil sales.

The president also said that Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, the nominee for energy minister, has had a successful record in making dams and power plants and can manage water supplies and help solve the problem of electricity outages.
