Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi said on Thursday that expansion of exports, to neighboring and regional countries in particular, is one of the main agendas of his government.
The President made the remarks in a meeting with a number of top exporters of the country on the occasion of the National Exports Day.
Raeisi said that meeting with exporters on this day carries the clear message of the government’s support for all the exporters and economic activists.
“I call on the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade and all government officials to act in such a way that exporters could see the effects of government support in practice,” the president said.
Iran’s share of regional and world trade is not compatible with the country’s existing capacities, Raeisi said, adding that there is much demand in different countries, especially among the neighbors, for Iranian products and technical and engineering services.
Promotion of trade with neighbors and success of economic diplomacy relies on support for activities of the country’s producers and exporters, the president said. He noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has devised a mechanism to facilitate such support.
Raeisi said that Iran’s full membership in Shanghai Cooperation Council provides a good chance for expansion of economic and trade relations with regional countries, urging the exporters to take the chance to make use of the economic potentials of Asia.
Also speaking during the meeting, 18 exporters enumerated different obstacles on the way of exports and expressed hope that the policies taken by President Raeisi’s government would lead to an exports boom.
