Iran resumes domestic, foreign voyages as COVID curbs ease

As the national vaccination against COVID-19 has paced up, both domestic and foreign voyages have resumed and are expected to increase in the future, a senior maritime transportation official said on Tuesday.

As the national vaccination against COVID-19 has paced up, both domestic and foreign voyages have resumed and are expected to increase in the future, a senior maritime transportation official said on Tuesday.  

Director General of Maritime Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran Hossein Abbasnejad expressed hope that marine tours will thrive during the upcoming holidays and the Iranian New Year holidays of Nowruz in late March 2022.

Referring to the necessity of observing the health protocols, he said that having a negative PCR test as well as a vaccine card is needed for both the domestic and foreign voyages.   

The official however said that the foreign travels will require cooperation with different countries. He underlined the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard.
