Ebrahim Jamili, head of Mine and Mining Industries Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce, said on Tuesday that the ground is prepared for Iran’s activity in Afghanistan mining sector, noting that Iran welcomes cooperation with China in this regard.

Underlining the significance of extra-territorial mining, he said that Iran has high potential and knowhow which helps the country to participate in mining projects of other countries, Afghanistan in particular.

Having different rich mines, Afghanistan provides a good chance for Iranian companies, Jamili said.

He said that a few number of world countries have recognized the rule of Taliban in Afghanistan which is another chance for Iran that should not be missed.

“We have negotiated with a number of major companies in the field of exploration, extraction and processing of mines that have the ability to work abroad, and we are also trying to have meetings with Afghan mining officials to prepare the ground for the presence of Iranian companies in Afghanistan as soon as possible.”

He stressed that this would be a win-win game for both sides.

Noting that Iran has more cultural common grounds with Afghanistan while China enjoys more advanced technology and machinery, Jamili said that “one of our plans is to have a trilateral cooperation.”

He said that the Chinese and Iranians and the Afghans need each other.
