A member of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mine and Agriculture (ICCIMA) says barter trade between Iran and Pakistan will begin soon.
A Pakistani delegation is due to visit Zahedan Chamber of Commerce in southeastern Iran so as to have negotiations with the Iranian side on barter trade and free trade, La’l Mohammad Balouch Zehi was quoted as saying by ILNA News Agency.
Noting that Iran imports banana, mango, textile and essential goods like rice from Pakistan and exports apple, dates, petrochemical products and ceramic tile from the country, he said that these commodities can be bartered between the two neighboring countries.
He also referred to the launch of Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul railway nearly 45 days ago, expressing hope that Pakistan, Iran and Turkey would continue to have regular rail trips.
Fahimeh Damroudi, the secretary of Iran-Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, said earlier this month that because of the problems on the way of financial transactions between Iran and Pakistan, promotion of barter trade is the best option for expansion of trade between the two countries.
Also Iranian Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Reza Fatemi Amin said early November 2021 that Iran and Pakistan are going to implement a free trade agreement within the next three months.
