Massoud Ahmad, trade and investment adviser at Pakistan embassy in Tehran says a delegation from Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry is scheduled to pay a visit to Iran to explore ways for further trade cooperation between Iran and Pakistan.
Ahmad made the remarks during a visit to Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) where he met with Niloofar Assadi, the director of bilateral and multilateral relations of ICCIMA Department for International Affairs.
Speaking during the meeting, Assadi referred to easing COVID curbs, and said that Iran is eager to accept delegations from Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and dispatch delegations to Pakistan as well.
Iran Chamber has proposed forming an arbitration committee to help the settlement of trade disputes between the two countries, she said, expressing hope that an MoU will be signed during an upcoming joint economic commission.
The two sides also urged the need for easing visa requirements for businesspersons as the COVID restrictions are gradually easing.
The Pakistani official, for his part, said that the Pakistani delegation to Iran, led by the chairman of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be mainly comprised of businesspersons active in the areas of auto making and petrochemical industry.
In addition to having a trade meeting in Iran Chamber of Commerce, the Pakistani delegation is also scheduled to have meetings in Iranian local chambers of Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad and Zahedan, Ahmad said.
