An upcoming visit to Iran by  Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply of Brazil Teresa Cristina da Costa Diaz is in line with the resolve of Brasilia government to further promote relations with Tehran, according to the Chairman of Iran-Brazil Joint Chamber of Commerce.Fakhreddin Amerian said that the Brazilian minister’s Tehran visit is scheduled for February 18-19.

During her stay in Tehran the Brazilian minister is also scheduled to visit Iran Chamber of Commerce where B2B meetings are going to be held between businesspersons of the two countries, Amerian said.

Some Iranian Members of Parliament will also be present at Iran Chamber of Commerce during the Brazilian minister’s visit to the chamber, he added.

He said that the Brazilian minister will be heading a delegation among which are businesspersons who are seeking purchase of petrochemical products from Iran.

Speaking during a seminar in Tehran late in January on exploring the chances for trade between Iran and Brazil, Iran Chamber chief Gholam Hossein Shafei said that Iran had some $1.15 billion of direct imports from Brazil in 2020 while its exports to the Latin American country stood as few as $116 million.

Shafei noted that corn, soybean, edible oils, sugar, meat and coffee were Iran’s main import items from Brazil while mining and industrial sectors were paid less attention.
