Out of the 32 provinces in Iran, 21 have reported zero new deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, as the country has marked one of the lowest daily fatalities in more than two years.
Over the past 24 hours, 532 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported in Iran, with 109 of them hospitalized, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
It put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 141,083, saying the disease has taken the lives of 11 patients over the past 24 hours, while no patient has died in 21 provinces.
More than 6,983,500 individuals have recovered or been discharged from hospitals out of a total of 7,221,000 who have contracted the disease, the ministry added.
Some 990 victims of COVID-19 are in severe condition and are being treated in intensive care facilities, it said.
The ministry also said that over 64.32 million Iranians have received the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, over 57.54 million have received the second dosage, and more than 27.02 million have gotten the booster shots.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 512 million and the death toll has exceeded 6.25 million.
