Iran Chamber of Commerce ready to cooperate with UNIDO

Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has signaled readiness to cooperate with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on industrial development and digitalizing the economy.

Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) has signaled readiness to cooperate with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on industrial development and digitalizing the economy.

ICCIMA Vice-President Hossein Selahvarzi and UNIDO Industrial Development Officer Kjell Sundin, in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, stressed the need for further cooperation between the UN body and the Iranian private sector on Iran’s industrial development and promotion of SMEs in the countries.

Speaking during the meeting, Selahvarzi said that ICCIMA has taken big steps over the past years to promote the status of private sector so that now there is high potential for cooperation with the Iranian private sector.

“We hope we can cooperate with UNIDO in different areas such as improvement of business atmosphere, digitalizing the economy, and industrial development.”

The UNIDO officer, for his part, said that the organization is ready to cooperate with Iran.

He said that UNIDO will support digitalizing the Iranian economy and improvement of the production chain in the country.   

Sundin noted that they will first of all identify the existing obstacles and challenges and then devise a plan for cooperation.

He said that the removal of sanctions on Tehran with open new doors for further cooperation with Iran.
