The construction of Iran’s first bioethanol plant has made 85% progress, according to Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade.

Iran’s first bioethanol plant is under construction in western province of Kermanshah.

The construction of Iran’s first bioethanol plant has made 85% progress, according to Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade.

Once completed, the plant which is the biggest of its kind in the region, will save Iran some $65 million a year, Ali Nabavi said.  

He said that the construction project has been carried out by domestic operators despite tough US sanctions on the country.

The construction project of the plant is expected to finish by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 2023) when the facility will be installed and operational, the official said.  

Bioethanol is a biofuel which is used to replace chemical additives of gasoline and will significantly reduce its pollution.
