Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) announced on Wednesday that it has decided to form an Iran-Portugal joint committee on commerce.

The announcement said that the decision comes after an approval of the ICCIMA Board of Directors for setting up the joint committee.

It calls on those who have been active in business between Iran and Portugal to fax their official request to ICCIMA for membership in the committee.

Portuguese Ambassador to Iran Carlos Costa Neves said in mid-November 2021 that Portuguese companies are waiting for the removal of sanctions on Tehran to return to the Iranian market.

Speaking during a meeting in Tehran with ICCIMA President Gholam Hossein Shafei, the ambassador noted that the Portuguese embassy in Tehran is constantly monitoring the news of Iran nuclear talks with the world powers.

The president of Iran Chamber of Commerce, for his part, said that although the pressure of sanctions has affected the trade levels between Iran and Portugal, the two countries can devise mechanisms in the future to make up for the losses.
