Iran targets an annual 160,000 tons of shrimp exports

Head of Iran Fisheries Organization said on Saturday that Iran has targeted to export some 160,000 tons of shrimp by the country’s 2025 Vision Plan.

Hossein Hosseini said that Russia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and China are the destinations for Iranian shrimp.

The official noted that Iran produced some 57,000 tons of shrimp last year, 32,000 tons of which were exported to China.

He expressed hope that Iran’s shrimp exports to China will further increase in the current Iranian calendar year.

Hosseini said that Iran has produced nearly 68,000 tons of shrimp this year.

Iran is a major seafood producer in the region with trout, caviar and shrimp being its main exported products.
