Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mikhael Miatlikov has said that his country is willing to transit good via Iran to third countries.

Miatlikov made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Iran Chamber of Commerce newsroom on the sidelines of a visit to Tehran by a Belarusian trade delegation last week.

Noting that both Iran and Belarus are under Western sanctions, he said that Iran has been suffering from these sanctions for much longer years and the Belarusian trade delegation is eager to make use of Iran’s experiences in doing trade despite the sanctions.

Iran and Belarus can cooperate in pharmaceuticals and auto making, he said, reiterating the need for launching direct flights between the two countries.

During the visit to Iran by the Belarusian delegation, an Iran-Belarus business forum was held in the Iranian capital where President of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Gholam Hossein Shafei urged the need for forming a joint working group with Belarus for identifying and removing trade obstacles.

Shafei said that as Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union are finalizing a free trade agreement, there is a huge possibility for further expansion of trade ties between Iran and Belarus.

Noting that the Iran Chamber of Commerce is doing its best to prepare the ground for more enhanced connections with Belarusian businesspeople, Shafei said that as long as the traders are not provided with easy access to target countries, the volume of trade will not increase.
