Iran highlights Armenia’s role in accessing EAEU market

Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Solat Mortazavi said on Tuesday that Armenia is an important actor for Iran in terms of accessing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market, Armenpress reported.

Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Solat Mortazavi said on Tuesday that Armenia is an important actor for Iran in terms of accessing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market, Armenpress reported.

Iran’s Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Solat Mortazavi said on Tuesday that Armenia is an important actor for Iran in terms of accessing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market, Armenpress reported.  

Mortazavi, who is on a visit to Yerevan at the head of a delegation, made the remarks in a meeting with Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan

The Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, the Iranian Consul General in Kapan Abedin Varami, representative of the Armenian Embassy in Iran Vardan Kostanyan and other officials were also present at the meeting.

Minister Sanosyan welcomed the officials and appreciated the multi-sector cooperation with friendly Iran.

The Iranian minister attached importance to the existing high level relations between Armenia and Iran. “But we shouldn’t stop here. We must work to further increase the trade-economic relations between the two countries,” Minister Mortazavi said, adding that Armenia is an important actor for Iran in terms of accessing the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market.

A long-awaited free trade agreement was signed between Iran and the EAEU in Tehran on Thursday.

Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO) Alireza Peimanpak signed the agreement on the Iranian side with EAEU Minister of Trade Andrey Slepnev signing the agreement on the side of the five-member bloc.

Speaking during a press conference on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Peimanpak, also the Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade, said that the agreement is expected to become operational by late September after being approved by the IAEA member countries.

The two sides made the final talks today, according to which 90% of the items were put on the green trade list with the rest 10% enlisted as forbidden items, Peimanpak said.
